My Utmost 01.23.08

Here's a quote from today's reading: "The golden rule for your life and mine is this concentrated keeping of the life open towards God."

One of the things I am learning is that life is not segmented. There are not compartments of family, work, faith, play, etc. So often we try to make it that way, but it isn't. Life is life. Everything impacts everything else.

So instead of thinking of life as an orange (individual segments making up a single unit), I'm trying to think of it as an apple (no divisions). All of life is relationship with God. If I keep myself open to Him, the rest will be in order as well.

I probably need to add some Brother Lawrence to my reading list.
