On Monday, President Bush will present his "State of the Union Address" before a joint session of Congress. In it, he'll comment on the current condition of the country, but more importantly, outline the steps he believes we need to take to move forward.
It's important for leaders to do that periodically. We need to be reminded of the big picture, because sometimes we get so tied up in the details that we "can't see the forest for the trees".
That's what I'll be doing this Sunday in a sermon I've titled "State of the Church". We'll take a look of where we are in our journey of transitioning to an outwardly focused congregation that glorifies God by preparing healthy, growing, reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ. And I'll talk about the next few steps we will be taking in that journey.
