But do you know why weebles wobble but won't fall down? Center of gravity. A weeble's weight is at the very bottom of the toy. So no matter what you do, they will always stand up. So for weebles, a low center of gravity is a good thing.
But the same thing cannot be said for followers of Jesus Christ. For us, God wants to be our center of gravity. But making God our center of gravity doesn't happen by discussion.
Take, for example, the expert in the Law who stands to test Jesus. Luke tells the story this way in Luke 10:25-28. The lawyer's problem wasn't that he didn't know the answer. His problem was that he wasn't living the answer.
That's often our problem, too. We know a lot of what God expects from us:
- Love God with all our hearts (emotions)
- Love God with all our sould (identity)
- Love God with all our strength (physical energy)
- Love God with all our mind (mental energy)
- Love your neighbor as yourself
The problem is that we often don't do those things. The lawyer's story is our story. And Jesus' advice to the lawyer is the same for us..."Do this and you will live."
