In 1988, Edward J. Olmos received an Acadamy Award nomination for his portrayal of Jaime Escalante in the film "Stand and Deliver". It tells the story of a teacher who refused to back down. Instead, he worked in the face of overwhelming odds to help his students achieve success in math.
Acts 5 tells the story of another person who chose to stand and deliver in the face of adversity. His name is Peter. You can read about it here.
Easter faith enabled Peter to stand and deliver. And down through history, Jesus disciples have done exactly the same thing. Some are known for their accomplishments. Some are known for their sacrifice. But most are known only by God. They are ordinary people, facing ordinary challenges, overcoming through Easter faith.
For when you know Jesus, have been filled with the Holy Spirit, and are anticipating Christ's return, it makes all the difference. You can stand and deliver, regardless of the circumstances.
