Sunday Rewind 10.29.06

If you’ve ever played golf, you know your best friend is a guy named Mulligan. A “mulligan” is a do over. You drop another ball and pretend the last shot didn’t happen. In the course of life, there are lots of times when we count on taking a mulligan.

We know that we’re sinners. We know that our sins have left us broken and ravaged and unclean and impure, and we desperately desire that someone — or something — will restore us to wholeness. We are anxious to find a way to turn back the clock, or take the test again, or clean up the mess.

But how can this restoration happen? That’s the question our Scripture lesson, Hebrews 7:23-28, answers.

Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through Him. Given the mess we make of our lives, we need someone who is intervening with God on our behalf. Jesus offers us an opportunity to be un-sinned, un-polluted and restored to perfect purity...complete cleansing.

His perfect sacrifice on the cross offers us forgiveness of our sins and reconciliation with God not only now but forever.

And no one is beyond Jesus capacity to save completely. No one is too sinful. No one is too dirty or damaged. Even you, if you will come to God by faith in Jesus. And there’s no time like right now.

Would you like to be forgiven of your sin and receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord? From your heart, offer the following prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I’m a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sing. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have you done that? Please let me know by commenting. I want to pray for you.
