Working Out - Day 1

This morning, I met Derek at the gym. But it wasn't without incident.

To prepare for getting up at 5:30 am, I went to be a little earlier than normal, at about 10:30. But I couldn't fall asleep. As I watched the clock pass midnight, I began to become concerned that I wouldn't get up in time, which kept me from falling asleep until about 1.

My eyes opened at 5:29 am, so I got out of bed. But when I went to start the car...it wouldn't. Apparently, my car was wondering what I was doing. So I took the van and arrived at the gym 15 minutes late. Derek was finishing his time on the bike so I joined him on the treadmill (which has always made me feel like a gerbil on one of those metal wheels). After 10 minutes of walking but going nowhere, Derek went to lift, and I decided to try the eliptical machine.

Let's just say that I joined Derek at the weights pretty quickly, where we lifted for about 30 minutes. I took things pretty easy and felt ok as I was leaving (except for my legs which were still feeling like spaghetti after 2 minutes on the eliptical machine).

Upon arriving home, I prepared to try to jump start the car. But when I gave it one more try, the car started on its own. Apparently, my car doesn't work before 6 am.

As I write this post, I'm feeling the burn. All things considered, it was a good first day.

And I'm surprised to say that I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
