What an exciting morning!
I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and heard fire trucks driving into town. That's unusual. I heard that I-81 was closed with a tractor trailer accident, and assumed it must be really bad.
But then, on my way to church, I saw the plume of smoke rising. One of the buildings along King Street was on fire. For the locals, it's the tanning parlor building, two buildings down from Shippen Place Hotel.
I couldn't resist the temptation to park the car and walk over to observe. Wow! What a sight. Flames shooting 20' into the air. Firefighters and apparatus everywhere.
I write this post, not to inform, but to celebrate and thank our firefighters who are risking their lives to contain the fire. I am always grateful for these brave civil servants, and pray for them every time I hear the siren blast.
So, if any of you read this, please know that I appreciate you.
