The Last Week Before School Begins

It seems hardly possible that school begins next week. But it's true. Summer is nearly gone. And that means changes have begun in our home.

For one, school year bed time began this week. It's not being received well. The boys have been staying up until 10 or later many nights this summer. So heading to bed at 8:30 and 9:00 seems really early, even to me. The real struggle will be in getting up in the morning. But we'll save that one for next week.

The other big change is that Janet is gearing up for a new year. I've enjoyed seeing her during the day, especially at lunch. In-service begins on Wednesday, so it will be back to eating alone.

Of course, the new school year brings with it the return of sports practices and scouting events. I guess it's time for life to return to its normal hectic pace.
