Sunday Rewind 2.16.09

Today, you're alive. One day, that won’t be true. And when that day comes, the only thing that will last is what we’ve done for the glory of God and what we’ve invested in other people. So let me ask an uncomfortable question…When you die, what legacy will you leave in the lives of others?

I have been blessed to have a string of people who have invested in me. That list includes Sunday School teachers, college professors, fellow pastors, and many others. I am who I am today, largely because these people, and many others invested in my life.

What legacy are you leaving in the lives of others? Yesterday, we wrapped up our series on Philemon with two simple lessons to empower others in the Kingdom of God.
  • Believe in people. Paul could have looked at Onesimus like everyone else. But when others saw a thieving, runaway slave, Paul saw Kingdom potential. Do you want to leave a legacy in the lives of others? Look for the potential. Believe in people.
  • Take risks on people. Paul took a huge risk with Onesimus. He put his name, his reputation, and his own resources on the line. Most of us are where we are because somone took a risk on us. Do you want to leave a legacy in the lives of others? Take risks on people.
