Sunday Rewind 02.22.09

Take a moment and do some imagining with me.

Imagine that you had absolute confidence that God knows your name and is always with you. Bad things happening? No problem, God has it under control. Great things happening? No big deal, it's just another blessing from God. Temptation isn't a problem because God is greater than temptation.

Imagine if that were your experience. Wouldn’t that be nice?. OK, imagination time is over. It's time for some reality.

That is exactly where God wants to take you. God wants you to have big faith. Want to see what that looks like? Check out the story of the Centurian in Matthew 8:1-10.

This Roman officer knows what it is to be a man under authority. He knows people obey him because of his connection with Rome. Somehow, he has noticed that Jesus is also a man of authority. But His power doesn't come from Rome, it comes for God. That why he knows that if Jesus just said the word, his servant would be healed.

That's faith. In fact, it's such a powerful expression of faith that even Jesus is impressed. It's also the kind of faith He wants to see in His people.

So, if God wants to build my faith, how does he do that? That’s what we’re going to be looking at over the next several weeks. We're looking at "Five Things God Uses to Grow Your Faith. They include:
  • Practical Teaching
  • Providential Relationships
  • Private Disciplines
  • Personal Ministry
  • Pivotal Circumstances

Imagine having perfect faith. That’s where you want to be. That’s where I want you to be. That’s where God wants you to be.
