Today was a bittersweet day. It was the last Sunday Pastor Craig and the Mickey family will be with us as staff members. We did a couple special things to highlight the day.
First, I invited Craig to preach, which he accepted. He did a great job of expressing appreciation for the past seven years while pointing people to the future. I was particularly impressed by his encouraging the church to avoid the temptation of doing things the way he did things, but to press forward with our next staff member.
Second, we spent time praying together for the Mickey family. Following the pattern of Acts 13, I invited the congregation to gather around them, laying hands on them. We opened the floor for people to voice prayers of blessing and gratitude. It was powerful.
Third, we went out for lunch together. There's nothing like a Chinese buffet for spending time together. We had a great time of eating and reminiscing.
Next week will be odd. But because we are confident God is moving the Mickey's to Fort Wayne, He will provide for us as we seek His face together.
