My plan to execute the robin with a Red Ryder BB gun has hit a snag.
Yesterday, I was standing in my front yard, waiting for an opportunity to strike. My neighbor saw me and asked what I was doing. I told him, expecting his sympathy. Instead, he informed me that it is illegal to discharge a BB gun within the borough limits.
I thought he was kidding. He was serious.
He told me that his son was arrested at age 16 for shooting a BB gun. It carried a $100 fine. He suggested that this may not be the kind of publicity that our church or my family need. I agree. So I need a new plan.
The windows being attacked are the new casement windows we had installed. So today, I'm opening the windows a bit. I'm hoping that changing the angle of the window might keep the bird from seeing his reflection, solving the problem.
We'll see...
