Making Peace

Every so often, I come across a resource that is so timely, it can only be divinely appointed. "Making Peace: A Guide to Overcoming Church Conflict", by Jim Van Yperen is the latest to fit this description.

One of the things we have learned is that Prince Street Church has a long track record of failing to handle conflict in a biblical manner. It seems, as we allow God's light to reveal our darknesses, that instead doing the hard work of making peace, we do anything else. The consequence of that historic choice has been relational breakdown. Compounding the problem is the fact that handling conflict isn't something I do well either. This is one of the things we need to learn together.

And that's where "Making Peace" comes in. It gives guidance on moving from the mess we're in to becoming a redemptive community. It's one of those books that took just a few days to read, but will take much longer to learn.
