Yesterday, Rev. Pat Jones spoke on the subject of knowing Christ. Pat is a gifted speaker. I hesitate to attempt a synopsis because I don't want to put words in his mouth. Instead, I'll share the section of the sermon that is really sticking with me this morning.
Pat shared that it's easy to say you know Christ when things are going well. But what about when things aren't?
I want to know Christ when despite increase exercise and improved nutrition, the weight still doesn't come off. I want to know Christ when people are slandering me. I want to know Christ when the money runs out before the bills are paid. I want to know Christ when I'm giving all I know to give but am still failing. I want to know Christ when my child is diagnosed with a serious illness. I want to know Christ...
