After a long day at church yesterday, I spent my evening watching the NFC Championship game with my sons.
My youngest is a Packers fan. His favorite player is Brett Favre. So to celebrate, we had a Packer party. We went to the store after his basketball game yesterday (in which he scored on a free throw) to buy brats, cheese and sardines. Those are, after all, the three basic food groups.
Before the game, we grilled up some brats (on the George Forman grill), and pretended we were in the parking lot, tailgating with other cheeseheads. During the game, we snacked on cheese. Then, at halftime, we broke out the sardines.
My boys have never had sardines before. I bought them as a joke, thinking they'd never try them. Much to my surprise, opening the can didn't send them running for the bathroom. In fact, both ate more than one taste! I was shocked. We didn't finish the can, but it was fun to listen to them telling their mother about it.
Too bad the game didn't end the way we wanted.
