It's really getting serious for Paul now. Faced with opposition from nearly every direction, Paul remains faithful to the task God called him to accomplish. Jailed, attacked, rejected, beaten, plotted against, etc.
It's a hard scenario to identify with. But it reminds me that a life of following Christ is not a stroll down a garden path. It's picking up my cross, following Jesus.
God, grant me the grace to follow you, regardless of the consequences.
