Last night, I couldn't get to sleep. That happens sometimes to me. I feel tired, but can't get my brain to stop spinning. The only solution I've found that helps is watching some television. There's something about the mindless nature of that activity that helps my brain go still.
So I got up, and realized that two different ballgames were coming down the stretch. On one channel, the Indians were playing the Yankees. On another, the Bills were playing the Cowboys. Much to my delight, the right team was winning both games. There are no professional team that I enjoy rooting against more than the Yankees and the Cowboys. So this was a particularly enjoyable circumstance.
I frantically worked the remote flipping between games. First, the Yankees fell. Then the Cowboys missed their 2 point conversion. I thought I'd drift off to sleep with a smile on my face.
Then, it happened. The Bills found a way to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory, and I went to bed with the image of a smiling Tony Romo in my head. But, at least I had the image of disbelieving Yankees to balance it out. (Sorry Cherie).
