Today is the last day of January. Although I got a little behind again this week, I'm glad to report that I am up-to-date on my reading. Are you? If so, we're 1/12th of the way to our goal.
Here are some of the things that struck me as I read this week:
Quote: Israel said to Joseph, "I'm ready to die. I've looked into your face—you are indeed alive." (Genesis 46:30)
Thought: I can't even imagine the emotional roller-coaster Israel went through. To believe for so long that you son was devoured by wild animals, the be told that same son is alive would be almost too much. Then to actually see him again! Unbelieveable.
Quote: He said, "Oh, Master, please! Send somebody else!" (Exodus 4:13)
Thought: How many times in life do we play Moses? God speaks. We know what He wants us to do. But we can't see the end from the beginning. The risk seems too great. So we ask God to call someone else. Or worse, we choose not to obey at all, and miss out on the blessing of being used of God to do the extraordinary.
Quote: As they left Pharaoh, they found Moses and Aaron waiting to meet them. The foremen said to them, "May God see what you've done and judge you—you've made us stink before Pharaoh and his servants! You've put a weapon in his hand that's going to kill us!" (Exodus 5:20-21)
Thought: When you're doing exactly what you know God has asked of you, things don't always go well, at first. Do what God has told you anyway.
