First, the worship service was a work of the people. The pastor was on the platform no more than 15-20 minutes, including the sermon. Scriptures were read by the people. Prayers were led by the people. Even Communion was served by the people. This really challenged me.

Third, the multi-generational congregation made it very easy to fit in. From the teenager on the electric bass to the 70-year old on percussion, people were genuinely worshipping God. I loved it. My in-laws (whose preference is a traditional style) loved it. It was the family of God worshipping Him together. It was great.
So, if you're ever vacationing in the Bethany Beach, DE area on a Sunday, let me encourage you to attend worship at Mariner's Bethel. I can't wait to go back next year!
