I have been an aspiring guitarist for more nearly 10 years.
About 10 years ago, I decided that I needed to start playing the guitar. I wanted to be able to lead worship with that instrument as well as keyboard. It took me about 2 years to actually buy a guitar. And I started to learn. But then, I left my position as Worship/Youth Pastor to move to Shippensburg as an Associate Pastor.
This church did not have a contemporary service, so I had little need to practice the guitar. Then I moved to Prince Street as Senior Pastor, and my time availability vanished.
Periodically, I have gotten the guitar out of the case, but about 2 years ago, I broke a string. The guitar was put away, and I haven't gotten it out since. Until yesterday.
Yesterday, I bought a new set of strings, put them on the guitar, and spent about 30 minutes playing. It was fun. I'm looking forward to spending some more time learning this new instrument.
Where will I find the time? I don't know. A little here, a little there, I guess.
Today is Saturday, and I'm going to Baltimore for a wedding. It's not my favorite way to spend a day, but it's important to Janet. That's enough reason for me.
Well, it's time for coffee. There's nothing like a hot cup of Costa Rica Tarrazu on a cool, damp morning.
