Walking with Jesus - Friday

That's not fair!

How often have I heard that phrase? I've heard it screamed in the midst of competition. I've heard it moaned in times of distress. I've heard it murmurred in time of contemplated revenge.

One of the most important life lessons I've learned is that life isn't fair.

But an innocent man...a good, loving, kind man...God himself...to be treated the way we treated him? That's not fair! Or is it? Maybe its the most fair thing that has ever happened.

My sin had to be paid for. And that meant somebody had to die. Animals wouldn't do it. And God loves me too much to let me do it. Nevertheless, somebody had to.

Add to it the prophecies...and it had to be Jesus. Noone else could have done it for fairness to take place.

That doesn't make it any easier to accept.

Lord, I'm sorry for making it necessary for you to go through this day. I am amazed at your love for me. I accept the price you paid for my sin. And I want to live my life in such a way as to demonstrate my gratitude. Amen.
