Keeping My Mouth Shut

Nine days ago, I made a terrible mistake.

In the course of casual conversation, I talked about how pleased I was about the reliability of our van in front of our mechanic, Lenny. Making it worse, I said that I would not replace the van until Lenny told me it made no sense to fix it. You know what comes next...right?

On Monday, the van died...blown engine. And with over 100,000 miles, it made no sense to fix it. So we started shopping.

We narrowed it down to two vehicles: a 2004 Ford Freestar with 63,000 miles at Parson's Interstate Ford, and a 2005 Pontiac Montana with 53,000 miles at Kyner's Auto Sales. Both salespeople were great. Shawn at Interstate Ford "bent over backwards" for us to find a vehicle that would meet our needs. Ron and Kyner's was a big help, too.

In the end, we preferred the Montana, so that's what we purchased. How do we like it? Is it a good vehicle? Is it meeting our needs?

This time, I'm keeping my mouth shut.
