Over the years, I have learned to accept the fact that a pastor's work is never done. But the battle I continually struggle with is the "tyranny of the urgent".
One weapon I use is a monthly prayer retreat. I unplug, get away, and simply make time to read God's Word, do some devotional reading, and journal. But mostly, I practice silence and listen for God's voice.
I try to do it the first Tuesday of each month. That makes today the day. So, in a few moments, I'm turning off the computer and enjoying the day away.
