Surprising Success

Last Friday, I experienced surprising success.

Ever since we bought this house, 6 years ago, we've had a problem with the sliding closet doors in our bedroom. The doors keep falling off the track. And since we're still working on fixing up the house, we've decided to fix that problem.

So, when I went to McCune Lumber last Thursday, I did so expecting to purchase new sliding closet doors to be installed by a contractor. But the clerk convinced me that all I really needed to do was replace the rollers.

There's just one problem. As much as I don't want to admit it, I'm not a terribly handy person. Actually, many projects I begin end with a call to a professional. But I couldn't resist the temptation to save $200 with a $12 repair. So I bought the parts and went home.

Friday morning, I got out some tools, and got to work. It took a couple trys, and nearly an hour, but in the end, I experienced surprising success. The doors slide smoothly, and they haven't fallen off the track since then.

The next project for me is painting the bedroom. That's the plan for my first week of vacation. We're also having a concrete patio poured, storm doors installed and carpet laid in the four bedrooms and the main hall. But I'll leave those for the professionals.
