Some friends of ours rent a cabin on a nearby mountain. For a couple years, they have repeatedly offered it for our use. So I took them up on it.
When I arrived, I found a log cabin with a front porch, including two rockers and no phone or cell service. I didn't need to go any further than that. If I could custom order a place to get away, this would be it. The inside of the cabin included a beautifully decorated and furnished retreat.
I prayed, read Scripture, walked, listened, read a devotional guide, and journaled through the day. The only thing interrupting my time was driving down the mountain to get into cell service to make sure Janet wasn't trying to get in touch with me.
It was a sweet time of reflecting on some things I have seen God accomplish in my life and in the life of the church since our Service of Repentance.
Here's a quote that I came across in my devotional guide. It is from a book titled, "The God Who Comes", by Carlo Corretto:
The lover is capeable of overcoming all difficulties and discovering all the strategems necessary to meet his soul's beloved. So it is better to get clear with ourselves what our relationship with God is.
Have you been not praying, not seeking him personally because you don't love him, or because you have no time?
