This weekend, we celebrate Memorial Day.
Usually, I am out of town on Memorial Day weekend. My family and I are usually spending time together at Family Camp hosted by Rhodes Grove. So Pastor Craig typically gets the preaching duty.
But he just preached a couple weeks ago, and he's preparing his final sermon before his departure to join the staff at Emmanuel Community Church on June 22nd. So, although we are still looking forward to Family Camp, I will just drive home for Sunday morning and return to camp when services are over.
Typically, I don't preach "holiday" sermons. Why? You'll have to come on Sunday to find out. But Memorial Day is a different type of holiday. It's one that challenges us to remember the sacrifices others have made for us, and the opportunities those sacrifices have provided us.
That's what we'll talk about on Sunday.
