My Utmost 02.06.08

Yesterday, I got back to getting away for personal prayer retreats.

I arrived at Rhodes Grove Camp around 9:00 am. They had a room set aside quiet room with a comfortable desk chair and a table. That's all I needed. I headed for home around 3:00 pm. In between was an amazing time of being alone with God.

I started with 30 minutes of silence. I ended with another 30 minutes of silence. Honestly, these were the hardest parts of the day. My mind raced from one subject to another. I find it nearly impossible to quiet myself. But I find that those times of quiet really prepare me for what God wants to say.

The balance of the day was spent reading Scripture, reflecting on what I read, and journaling the process.

I am grateful for the way the Holy Spirit met with me through the day yesterday. It reminded me of how incredibly important it is for me to take these days away.
