I'm taking a step forward in my coffee hobby, making homemade biscotti. Yesterday, I made my first attempt.
I made a few mistakes. For one, I didn't mix the batter enough before adding the almonds and chocolate chips. For another, I didn't add a little extra flour to the dough to stiffen it up correctly. I also had way too much flour on the outside of the dough. And, I cut the pieces too big. But, all that really matters is the end product. The problem is that I don't know what biscotti is supposed to look or taste like.
However, my Ministry Assistant, Wanda does. So I took one into the office for her review. I was encouraged by two things. She told me that the texture was right and the taste was great. But I hadn't told her that I made them. That surprised her. So, for my first attempt, I'm pretty statisfied.
I'm enjoying them with a fresh batch of Brazilian coffee. I can see that Lissa was right, though. I'm really going to have to be careful with how many I eat. It will make achieving my weight goals much more difficult.
I'm also looking forward to my next attempt. If I cut out some of my errors, I should end up with an even better product.

Wow, I'm impressed with your biscotti and I haven't even had the pleasure of trying them yet!
I on the other hand received my very first shipment of Sweet Maria's coffee today and am so very excited to roast again. I thought it would also be fun to order some coffee sacks, how cool to have received one from Brazil, I love them.
