New French Press

I had a wonderful experience this morning...a fresh cup of coffee in a brand new french press.

For pastor appreciation, I received a gift certificate to Greencastle Coffee Roasters. That's where I was getting my beans before I started roasting at home. Since I no longer need their beans, I wasn't sure how I would use the certificate.

My press had developed cracks in the bottom. So when you press the coffee, some leaks onto the counter, leaving Janet frustrated. So my choice was clear, clean up better or replace the unit. I decided to use the gift certificate to get a new press.

So I gave my old unit to Amber (a friend who works in Greencastle) and asked if she would mind stopping and getting me a new press. What a great friend! She literally walked into the store with my old press, and said to the staff person, "I need one of these." She called last night and told me she had my new press. So I picked it up, and this morning, used it for the first time.

I have come to the conclusion that this is my favorite method for making coffee. No messy paper filters. A great tasting cup. And simple to use. The only problem is a little sludge in the bottom of the cup. But as long as you remember to not take the last sip, you're fine.

Thanks, Stacy for the gift. And thanks, Amber, for making it happen.
