Our family visited one of Janet's college friends and his family last night. In talking about Christmas, they told us that they give each of their 3 daughters 3 gifts.
One gift represents gold. This is the big gift...something special that child really wanted. The oldest daughter, age 11, received an iPod.
One gift represents frankinsense. This is a personal care product...like a gift basket from Bath and Beyond.
One gift represents myrrh. It's a spiritual growth gift...like a Bible, a devotional book or a CD.
What a neat idea!
But we have 2 boys, and I'm not sure they would want a gift basket from Bath and Beyond. Still, now that Santa is waning in our home, it just might be something we think about for next year.
