Thru the Bible 10.24.07

This week's reading made me ask a tough question, "How do you want things at church? Clean or messy?"

As they interacted with Jesus, the Pharisees made their answer clear. They want things clean. They want everything to happen by their rules, by their expectations, in their timing. And when Jesus ignore those things, they got bent out of shape.

When Jesus touches lives, it's messy. It doesn't always happen where we think it should. It doesn't always happen when we think it should. It doesn't always happen how we think it should.

Instead, Jesus meets people where they are, bringing healing and wholeness to whoever looks to him by faith.

How do you want things at church? As for me, I'd much rather have a mess made by lives being transformed than a building sanitized for our protection.
