Sunday Rewind

When's the last time you thought about eternity? The truth is that most of us don't spend much time thinking about eternity. We're too busy trying to get through today. But Jesus told a strange story that challenges us to not only think about eternity, but to do something about it. Read it at Luke 16:1-9.

This story seems strange for Jesus to tell because the central character is so deceitful, and Jesus says, "Learn from this". Learn what? Cheat your boss? Do whatever's necessary to get ahead? No, that can't be it.

Instead, I think Jesus' point is this: How you live today matters for all eternity. He's challenging us to be even more wise with our position, influence, money and stuff than people who don't care about God are. He's telling us to live with eternity in mind.

How? Try these ideas on for size:
  • Be faithful in giving God His tithe (10% of all income)
  • Accumulate as little stuff as possible, using the surplus to meet needs in others.
  • Find ways to use the resources you need for ministry as well as for yourself.

Remember, how you live today matters for all eternity.
