Sunday Rewind 5.20.07

It's the Ascension Sunday. Today, we see that part of living out Easter faith, is seeing things the way Jesus sees them.

Our text is Ephesians 1:15-23.

Over the course of my life, I've had the opportunity to experience some "upgrades" because of my relationship with other people. For example:
  • I've sat on the players bench at Shippensburg Memorial Park because my son was playing baseball under the lights.
  • I've played golf for free because a friend had corporate passes.
  • I've watched a Dallas Cowboy football game from a Texas Stadium luxury box because my brother-in-law rented it.
  • I've spent weeks in an ocean-front condo at Bethany Beach because my in-laws invited us to join them.

But none of these compare to the "upgrade" we get because of our relationship with Christ.

He lives "far above" everything, the penthouse of all penthouses. From this exalted position, he exercise universal lordship. And because He is head of the church, we get to live there with Him.

In Paul's prayer, he asks God to allow us to see what it looks like from up there:

  • We see the hope of glory.
  • We see the riches of Christ's inheritance in us.
  • We see the power for us who believe.

Thanks be to God!
