Spiritual Disciplines aren't about what many people think. Lots of people have done lots of things to be "religious". But being a disciple isn't about being "religious". It's about being in a close, personal relationship with the God who created and redeemed us.
Spiritual Disciplines bring exercise, nutrition, and rest to our relationship with God. Fasting, submission and service are great ways to strengthen spiritual muscle. Study, prayer and worship nourish us. And meditation, simplicity and solitude provide the times of rest every relationship needs.
Some people thing the Disciplines are reserved for spiritual giants. But really, the only is a longing for God.
So how do you build Spiritual Disciplines into your life? Here are a few suggested steps.
- Make them a priority.
- Make a plan to fit your level of experience.
- Select appropriate resources.
- Adjust the plan as your experience and needs change.
- Build in encouragement and accountability through prayer partners.

Great points - In our world today it can be to easy to forget discipline... it does take time and commitment to do it correctly. Giving time to God can be fulfilling for us. The feeling we get after a great worship service or when you do something that is truly pleasing to God...it is amazing.
