Thru the Bible - 2.23.07

It's Friday. That makes me two days late in posting. Either I fell behind again, or I just didn't get around to posting. Both are true, but the former is the more significant reason. Nevertheless, here are a couple thoughts that came to me as I continue my journey through the Bible...

Quote: “GOD spoke to Moses, "Speak to the People of Israel. Tell them: I am GOD, your God. Don't live like the people of Egypt where you used to live, and don't live like the people of Canaan where I'm bringing you. Don't do what they do. Obey my laws and live by my decrees. I am your GOD. Keep my decrees and laws: The person who obeys them lives by them. I am GOD. (Lev. 18:1-5)

Thought: God desires for His people to be distinctly different from those who don't know Him.

Quote: "Do what I tell you; live what I tell you. I am God.” (Lev. 22:31)

Thought: That makes it pretty clear.

Quote: “Moses posted the calendar for the annual appointed feasts of God which Israel was to celebrate.” (Lev. 23:44)

Thought: Sometimes I think we fail to celebrate as we ought. Say what you want about Leviticus, but it's pretty obvious that God wanted His people to have a regular rhythm of worship & celebration. Since that obviously wasn't for His benefit, it must have been for the people's. Is it possible that we're missing out on something?
