Five to Thrive: Worship - Monday

Read Genesis 22:1-19.

Consider the following questions:

• When has God asked me to sacrifice something extravagant as an act of worship?
• Am I open to hearing the Holy Spirit’s voice in worship?
• How has God honored my obedience?

I think I'll limit my response to the first question. About 10 years ago, in the middle of a worship service, I clearly sensed God calling me to prostrate myself before Him in prayer. For many people, this is not an issue. But for me, it was.

The church I was serving God in at the time was not accustomed to multiple postures in prayer. Doing so not only risked the "what would people think?" issue, it risked the consequences.

I often wonder what would have happened if I had been obedient.
