Scripture Lesson: Proverbs 1:20-33.
In a variety of ways, everyday gadgets are wising up, networking, talking to one another, and making life a little easier for us. God has always wanted us to be part of His network, so He sends us a message in today's lesson about staying connected to widsom.
What's so innovative about this passage is that Wisdom is portrayed as a woman, a flesh-and-blood character who strides into the middle of human life and delivers a powerful message.
God has always wanted us to be wise, so He took the initiative to offer His wisdom. Good thing, because wisdom isn't found through human speculation. Instead wisdom cries out in the public arena offering herself to anyone who will receive her.
Many ignore wisdom, bringing terrible results. But, oh the benefits of receiving wisdom. Saftey...ease...no fear.
There's nothing secret, mysterious, or cryptic about God's wisdom. It's as clear as the words of the Bible, as obvious as the life of Jesus.
But receiving wisdom requires more than knowledge. Knowledge must be both interpreted and applied for wisdom to be received.
Lady Wisdom challenges us to embrace the full complexity of this world that God has created, and to plug into a network of Christians who are exploring what it means to be people of faith in a fast-paced, high-tech, global world.
