Most of yesterday was spent working through implications of the Discipleship Commission's decisons on Monday and the Worship Committee's decisions on Thursday.
The Discipleship Commission decided that we should offer a "How to Study the Bible" class on Wednesday nights this Fall. I'm going to be teaching the class. But what resource to use. We narrowed the field to two options; Kay Arthur and Rick Warren.
The Arthur approach is good, really good. The Warren approach is good, really good. So which to choose? In the end, it came down to which I felt more comfortable teaching. I chose Personal Study Methods by Rick Warren.
The Worship Commission agreed that Michelle Weaver would prepare and lead a musical for this Christmas. That means finding a musical that is both interesting and accessible for a beginning choir. They also agreed to release the Sunday night timeslot to all the commissions to program as they desire.
I'm excited about that idea. It's an opportunity to expand ministry in multiple directions. For those who desire to study the Bible, we could offer that as an options. For those who want to use the time to visit, we could offer that. For those who want to use it for a rehearsal, that's an option too. But it also takes planning.
So I spent much of the day on the phone, talking to people about what we can do.
What's on tap for today? Check in tomorrow to find out.
